Here's what people are saying about It's Clay Time....clay parties for adults
What an amazing experience it was to work with Lou and Carol in their pottery studio! Despite my initial lack of "pottery knowledge," by the end of our hands-on session I felt like I had learned a ton about the various techniques and felt very proud of all 4 of my pieces! Lou and Carol are excellent instructors who work to create a very relaxed, fun, and supportive environment where helpful hints are offered freely, and creativity is celebrated. I would certainly recommend participating in one of their workshops. And don't leave without checking out their adjoining store. Beautiful treasures and gifts can be purchased for family and friends!

When I was six years old I walked into a little shop called Ardith One with my Dad. After poking about the store for quite a while, I found a pattern of pottery that I loved. I picked out a bowl in this pattern and we decided to buy it for my mum for mother's day. My mum loved the piece, so for many mother's day celebrations that followed over the years, I kept picking out other pieces with this pattern to add to her collection. This summer I got married. When it came time to chose my bridal registry, I knew exactly what I wanted. I returned once more to Ardith One to find the same pattern I had purchased over the years for my mother.
Last weekend, I attended my friend Katie's bridal shower. For the shower, our friend Trish had arranged for us all to attend a pottery workshop at Lou's studio. I was excited and nervous. I have been taking pottery once a week for over a year at another studio and every time I had attempted to make something on the wheel it seemed to flop...(literally!)
Lou was a natural teacher. While I was working on the wheel, her instructions were clear, concise and effective. In no time at all, she helped me to create a bowl on the wheel that actually resembled a bowl!
Confident in my new found ability, I decided to move on to my second piece on the wheel. As I did so, something caught my eye on Lou's window ledge. It was a mug that held all of her old paint brushes and pottery tools. The mug was decorated with the same pattern that I had bought for my mum over the years and that I had recently collected at my wedding. I asked Lou if by chance she was the artist who had created this pattern. To my delight, she had. Working with Lou was such an memorable experience – one that I will forever cherish.

Pottery with Lou was a perfect activity to do with the girls! As I walked into the studio and slipped on my apron, I was hooked. From Lou’s showroom that looked like it was from a fairytale, to the magic of a workshop, I felt inspired. We all rolled up our sleeves and rotated through various workplaces. Lou and Carol offered much-needed instruction, but were so patient in letting us try everything for ourselves. They made learning fun. And it’s pretty tough not to be inspired by Lou’s work. I fell in love with every piece I saw. I can’t wait to go back! Thank you for giving us a party we will never forget!

Lou & Carol started my surprise bachelorette off with a bang! Five other girls and I ran amok in their studio, and even though they told us they had never taught a class before, they were patient, kind, generous with their time, and natural teachers. Within 5 minutes of meeting us, they knew (and remembered) all of our names. We had a blast learning to use the wheel, making platters, decorating bowls and painting .. and of course, meeting the giant gentles (aka beautiful Newfoundland dogs) that quietly watched from kitchen. These ladies are incredibly gifted at what they do, yet ridiculously humble. A stroll through their show room is must. Two big thumbs up from this bride-to-be. It was the most fun I’ve had in a long time.
